Presentation Title:

Resection of the superior vena cava and its tributaries in locally advanced chest tumors

Abstract

Malignant neoplasm of the lung and mediastinum can involve the superior vena cava in the pathological process with a lesion of 1/2 of its circumference and even more. Surgery remains one of the important stages of complex treatment of this group of patients. In this case, at the surgical stage, it is necessary to perform a circular resection of the superior vena cava with angioplasty. For such operations, a multidisciplinary approach is important, i.e. the participation of an oncologist as well as a cardiac surgeon in the operation. This approach contributes to the optimal tactics of performing the operation and minimizing postoperative complications. Our report presents five clinical cases involving surgical treatment of locally invasive malignant tumors of the chest with circular resection and vascular plastic by xenopericardium implant of the superior vena cava and its tributaries.
