Title: Fate protocol in undifferentiated shock: A report of mixed endocarditis

Abstract

The use of bedside ultrasound is relevant in the emergency environment, due to the practicality of its use and because it is an easy-to-learn imaging diagnostic method with good reproducibility. There are several protocols that can be used in POCUS (point of care ultrasound). The FATE protocol (Focus-Assessed Transthoracic Echocardiography) is one of those validated for cardiological examination by the clinician. Its objective is to rule out cardiac and pleuropulmonary pathologies. This report demonstrates the diagnosis of infective endocarditis as a cause of undifferentiated shock through the FATE protocol, performed by internal medicine residents at Hospital do Servidor Público Estadual de São Paulo (HSPE).
