Despite significant advances, cardiovascular diseases become a leading cause of mortality worldwide. This highlights a vital need to explore supportive strategies that are safe, accessible, and patient-centric. Nutraceuticals, derived from natural food sources, are gaining attention as promising agents in preventive and adjunct cardiovascular care.

This presentation focuses on the role of key nutraceuticals including omega-3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10, polyphenols, plant sterols etc., in modulating major cardiovascular risk factors such as dyslipidaemia, hypertension, oxidative stress, and chronic inflammation. These bioactive compounds act through multiple mechanisms, including improvement of endothelial function, lipid profile regulation, anti-inflammatory effects, and enhancement of mitochondrial efficiency.

Nutraceuticals can complement standard cardiovascular therapies, potentially improving patient outcomes and quality of life, particularly in countries with major population such as India, China etc. However, challenges such as lack of standardization, variability in bioavailability, limited large-scale clinical validation, and regulatory concerns remain significant barriers to their mainstream integration.

It further explores how integrating nutraceuticals into routine practice can contribute to the evolving paradigm of personalized and preventive cardiology.

Dr. Rajashri Kanad Gutte (B.E. Biotechnology, MBA, Ph.D.) is the Director of Kanad Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., India. With over a decade of experience in nutraceuticals and holistic recovery, she focuses on developing science-based, patient-oriented solutions. She is a recipient of the Best Young Researcher Award from the Scientific International Publishing House. Her academic work includes seven review papers, two patents, and two Springer book chapters, along with publications in reputed journals strengthening collaborations and knowledge exchange. One of her patent designs has been granted. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and contributed to a Guinness World Record for the “Thickest Book in the World.” Driven by a passion for innovation and translational research, Dr. Gutte continues to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world healthcare applications, particularly in advancing nutraceutical approaches for various diseases and improving patient quality of life.
